For Spring 2009 DC is proud to unveil Bruce Irons' signature sandal, the first pro model offered to a member of the small, elite DC surf team. An all-new sandal, it's been built from the ground up specifically for Bruce, the longest standing member of the DC surf team (on for 10 years).
At DC, signature models don't come easy. They aren't just handed to new team riders. They're earned, offered only to those riders that have reached the top of their sports and who have been through enough to know what it takes to make a great product. Bruce Irons fits the bill.
Super durable. Comfortable. Water friendly. Red, as in the color. Basic demands, and Bruce's demands for his Spring 2009 signature sandal. To cover his durability needs, we added a supremely tough rubber outsole (and stamped the Hawaiian island chain on the bottom). To make the slippa comfortable, we included a very cush toe separator, an anatomically correct footbed, and an articulated sole to help it bend naturally. And to make it wearable in and around the water, designers added neoprene on the inside of the straps.
To properly celebrate and release the Bruce sandal, weve created a cool custom minisite found at dcshoes.com/bruce. It's filled with info on the sandal and project, plus a nice video commercial DC Films put together. We also caught up with Bruce on his 10 years with DC: there's a section where he talks about some of his favorite DC ads from over the years. Click here for all that.
